Najaf Campaign

Najaf Campaign’s mission is to help the millions of orphans and underprivileged in Iraq, by channeling donations from around the world to alleviate poverty, supply medical aid and improve education. In order to achieve its community and economic goals, Najaf Campaign works hand-in-hand with other non-profits worldwide and collaborates with the charity wings of senior clergy in the Southern Iraqi City of Najaf. Najaf Campaign is inspired by Imam Ali bin Abi Talib’s instruction to care for all as either brethren in faith or in humanity.

The Al-Zahra' Foundation is a non profit UK based charity registered under 'The Caring For Mankind Trust', established in 2006 with a vision to provide long term aid and care to the underprivileged, needy and forgotten children, women and men in the developing world who face a miserable and uncertain future.

"And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks" [76:8-9]. It is well known that these verses are in praise of the Holy ahlulbayt (as) referring to the event in which Imam Ali (as), Lady Fatimah (as), Imam Hasan (as), Imam Husayn (as) and Lady Fizza (sa) fasted for three consecutive days, and on each day they gave away all that was there to eat to needy persons who knocked at their door at the time of iftaar. The Holy ahlulbayt (as) have shown us that charity in the way of Allah (swt) should be selfless and without any expectations.

The Al-Zahra' Foundation workers in the UK and abroad are volunteers, striving to follow the sunnah of the Holy ahlulbayt (as), dedicating their time with passion and commitment towards helping the needy, praying and hoping that their insignificant efforts are accepted by Allah (swt).

MyOrphans is a non-governmental organization, dedicated to provide a sustainable support to orphans. With $25 monthly payment, we can secure an orphan needs for food, clothes and education. Our focus is on:
• Orphans, any child between the ages of 1/month-18 years old whom lost one or two of his/her parents.
• Orphans with special needs, any orphan that requires special care such as medical attention, surgery, handicapped equipments.

MyOrphans was established due to a tragic situation in Iraq caused by decades of neglect and brutal dictatorship, devastating embargo, occupation, and last but not least blood thirst inhumane terrorism. As a result, a dire situation has developed which sadly to say there seems no end in sight.

All India Shia Yateem Khaana was founded by Janab Qadwatul Ulema Aqa Hasan Sahab Taba Sarah, and since then here so many students came and went when they became to take care of themselves. This organisation is for the welfare of the Orphans. There are a number of steps still to be taken for the best care of the children living here

In 1984, a group of like-minded visionaries and philanthropists came together to establish the Tauheedul Muslimeen Trust (TMT), in Lucknow. Their aim was to promote education as the channel to a better life and to a more enriched society.

Educational assistance, in the form of nominal scholarships, was the very first scheme launched by the Trust. Over a period of time, the Trust has not only been able to promote various schemes in the field of education and healthcare, but has also established/supported educational and medical institutes in and around Lucknow. The progress made by the TMT may be remarkable but stands nowhere when compared to the achievement of other institutes working selflessly in the same field, within and outside India.

In 1912, an organization with this name was started by 2 visionaries in India, namely Haji Jalaluddin Haider and Nawab Mohsen Mirza, with a subscription of 2 rupees to help the needy and deserving students of the community.

At the time when Sir Syed’s Muslim University at Aligarh was gaining popularity in India, Anjuman’s initiative gave a boost to those bright students who did not have the means to continue higher education. This commitment to help deserving students gained momentum as more and more people joined the Anjuman and helped with finances and other available resources -- above all, with selfless propagation of Anjuman’s cause.

A UK-based international relief and development agency, Muslim Aid has been working for over two decades to help save and improve the lives of millions in over 70 of the world’s poorest countries.

Supported and sustained by the general public Helping Hands inspired and committed to serving under privileged people around the World, to provide relief to people/communities affected by natural calamity, war or civil conflict whether domestic or foreign and to work for other general charitable purpose by way of financial assistance and/ or material as the case may require and as may deemed fit and resolved by board of trustees.

Iraqi Orphan Care Organisation (IOCO) is a non-governmental organisation, dedicated to provide shelter, food, health and education to underprivileged children. IOCO helps the most vulnerable orphaned children of Iraq. Our porpose is to transform their lives and fulfil their potential. Afghan Relief Fund is a humanitarian organization registered in the United States as a charitable, non-profit (501c)3 and in Afghanistan, as an NGO with the goal of educating and caring for the orphans, providing relief assistance to the widows and reaching out to the most needy in Afghanistan.

OUR VILLAGE is an independent Non-Governmental Organization which aims towards facilitating programs for youth to volunteer in developing countries worldwide. Through hands on experience OUR VILLAGE believes that volunteer experiences can assist with children, women, and political situations in developing countries. Furthermore, the programs are directed towards helping the participants mature into responsible adults who are aware of the drastic conditions that others live in around the world.
With the support of experienced volunteers, fundraisers, and a high quality management team, OUR VILLAGE is building a network of contacts with host NGO’s and other organizations abroad including Latin America, Southern and South-East Asia, and
East Africa.

OUR VILLAGE also works with other organizations to assist in Disaster Relief Operations such as the earthquakes in Pakistan and Indonesia and the landslide in the Philippines. Donations that are made through OUR VILLAGE are sent through volunteers to the affected areas and are used directly to assist in urgent relief programs and to develop recovery initiatives such as building relief centers, schools and playgrounds, assisting injured children, and purchasing supplies for local schools.

The vision of Dar-ul-Muslimeen is to have an EDUCATED, PROSPEROUS and UNITED MUSLIM COMMUNITY living under the divine Sovereignty and Guidance of Allah, the Merciful, and His last Prophet Muhammad, the trustworthy; as per the teachings of the Glorious Quran and the infallible Ahlulbayt, the twelve Imams.

Bringing sight to sore eyes...the journey starts here

In the late 1970's, a young child came to the UK with his family to escape the regime of Saddam Hussein. Educated in the UK, Haidar Al Hakim later trained as an Ophthalmic Surgeon at London University and Bart’s Hospital. In 2004, he returned with his father, a marine biologist, to Najaf, Iraq. They were shocked to find the lack of eye care expertise and facilities – and then only in private hospitals, way beyond the reach of the vast majority of the local populace. Haidar began to formulate his vision for the future: a special community ophthalmic clinic in Najaf. The community eye clinic would serve those most in need. Upon his return to England, and determined to make his vision a reality, Haidar, his father and a friend with long-term experience in the voluntary sector, Sharon Ridsdale founded Al Hasan Foundation. The charity has the following aims:

· Fund sight-saving treatment for women, children and the elderly

· Fully establish a community eye clinic in Najaf

· Upgrade essential ophthalmic equipment (including the purchase of at least one laser machine)

· Provide training opportunities for local surgeons

· Promote research into the prevention of blindness

So began the important work of the charity. Embarking on endless fund-raising and networking, and supported by an initial grant from the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Haidar made a series of trips over the next three years to Iraq. Providing cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment to needy patients, as well as demonstrating modern surgical techniques to local ophthalmic surgeons, Haidar progressed his aims considerably.

However, during a visit in 2007, Haidar sent this email to a colleague back in England:

“I enclose this picture of the elderly gentleman I treated before Christmas. I could only offer him partial treatment and he desperately needed urgent laser surgery: he has now gone blind. He could not afford the $300 or journey all the way to Baghdad where the only laser machine I know of is. So far I have turned away 52 patients in the last four weeks. Approximately 35% of the patients I see are children, young adults, the elderly; and I sit here and say I can’t help them...but I could if I had the equipment.”

This is why we have launched the ‘Bringing sight to sore eyes’ campaign: to raise the funding to buy and install the laser machine for the Najaf community eye clinic - as a major step forward in realising the aims of Al Hasan Foundation.

The foundation was established in Mashhad in 1374 (solar year). Its activities expanded 4 years later, in 1378. Today, there are more than 1,600 families under the umbrella of this foundation.The number of sponsored children and teenagers surpasses 2,350. Food and cash amounts are given to them on monthly basis. There are about 1,000 other people who receive only food Membership cards are issued after careful investigation of the needs of the persons applying. These cards are given to the sponsors who are willing to assume the responsibility of paying to assist the sponsored

As the plight of innocent children pulls on the heartstrings of all of us we are reaching out to the muslim and non-muslim community alike. We therefore need to plan various strategies in order to increase the awareness of our work amongst all social groups.

CAI is a partnership of individuals working with existing charitable infrastructures to bring relief to poor and destitute Muslims in third world countries in general and India in particular. With three structured projects underway in India, and tree more slated to go live in 2005, CAI touches the lives hundreds of world's poorest people. Whether supporting education, primary health care, or housing with running water and electricity, our programs promote positive and lasting change and reduce long-term dependency.

Apart from humanitarian needs, which are the primary focus, CAI also builds mosques and imambarghas, especially to new Shia converts, displaced due to their new faith. This is evident in West Bengal, where the need is of great urgency

CAI also provides emergency food and shelter to survivors of natural disasters, and Allah forbid, wars and conflicts, if the situation permits. We hope to remain with communities long after initial relief efforts are completed and support initiatives to enable people to rebuild their lives and to face the future with renewed confidence.
