"And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks" [76:8-9]. It is well known that these verses are in praise of the Holy ahlulbayt (as) referring to the event in which Imam Ali (as), Lady Fatimah (as), Imam Hasan (as), Imam Husayn (as) and Lady Fizza (sa) fasted for three consecutive days, and on each day they gave away all that was there to eat to needy persons who knocked at their door at the time of iftaar. The Holy ahlulbayt (as) have shown us that charity in the way of Allah (swt) should be selfless and without any expectations.

The Al-Zahra' Foundation workers in the UK and abroad are volunteers, striving to follow the sunnah of the Holy ahlulbayt (as), dedicating their time with passion and commitment towards helping the needy, praying and hoping that their insignificant efforts are accepted by Allah (swt).

MyOrphans is a non-governmental organization, dedicated to provide a sustainable support to orphans. With $25 monthly payment, we can secure an orphan needs for food, clothes and education. Our focus is on:
• Orphans, any child between the ages of 1/month-18 years old whom lost one or two of his/her parents.
• Orphans with special needs, any orphan that requires special care such as medical attention, surgery, handicapped equipments.

MyOrphans was established due to a tragic situation in Iraq caused by decades of neglect and brutal dictatorship, devastating embargo, occupation, and last but not least blood thirst inhumane terrorism. As a result, a dire situation has developed which sadly to say there seems no end in sight.

Tauheedul Muslimeen Trust

In 1984, a group of like-minded visionaries and philanthropists came together to establish the Tauheedul Muslimeen Trust (TMT), in Lucknow. Their aim was to promote education as the channel to a better life and to a more enriched society.

Bringing sight to sore eyes...the journey starts here

In the late 1970's, a young child came to the UK with his family to escape the regime of Saddam Hussein. Educated in the UK, Haidar Al Hakim later trained as an Ophthalmic Surgeon at London University and Bart’s Hospital. In 2004, he returned with his father, a marine biologist, to Najaf, Iraq. They were shocked to find the lack of eye care expertise and facilities – and then only in private hospitals, way beyond the reach of the vast majority of the local populace. Haidar began to formulate his vision for the future: a special community ophthalmic clinic in Najaf. The community eye clinic would serve those most in need. Upon his return to England, and determined to make his vision a reality, Haidar, his father and a friend with long-term experience in the voluntary sector, Sharon Ridsdale founded Al Hasan Foundation. The charity has the following aims:

· Fund sight-saving treatment for women, children and the elderly

· Fully establish a community eye clinic in Najaf

· Upgrade essential ophthalmic equipment (including the purchase of at least one laser machine)

· Provide training opportunities for local surgeons

· Promote research into the prevention of blindness

So began the important work of the charity. Embarking on endless fund-raising and networking, and supported by an initial grant from the British Foreign & Commonwealth Office, Haidar made a series of trips over the next three years to Iraq. Providing cataract surgery and glaucoma treatment to needy patients, as well as demonstrating modern surgical techniques to local ophthalmic surgeons, Haidar progressed his aims considerably.

However, during a visit in 2007, Haidar sent this email to a colleague back in England:

“I enclose this picture of the elderly gentleman I treated before Christmas. I could only offer him partial treatment and he desperately needed urgent laser surgery: he has now gone blind. He could not afford the $300 or journey all the way to Baghdad where the only laser machine I know of is. So far I have turned away 52 patients in the last four weeks. Approximately 35% of the patients I see are children, young adults, the elderly; and I sit here and say I can’t help them...but I could if I had the equipment.”

This is why we have launched the ‘Bringing sight to sore eyes’ campaign: to raise the funding to buy and install the laser machine for the Najaf community eye clinic - as a major step forward in realising the aims of Al Hasan Foundation.

The Holy Prophet [p.b.u.h.] said: "My community will continue to live fairly while they are faithful (to each other), return the deposits (to their owners), and give alms (of their property); but, if they do not fulfil these duties, they will encounter famine and scarcity."

It is narrated from the Holy Prophet [p.b.u.h.] who said:

"When I ascended to the sky, I saw three lines written on the door of Heaven:

The first line: In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful; I am Allah and there is no god save Me that My Grace preceeds My wrath.

The second line: In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent the Merciful; charity is repaid ten times and loan eighteen times, and regard for kinship thirty times.

The third line: He who understands My Rank and My Lordship should never accuse Me regarding sustenance."
